Stage Manager/ Associate Producer
Greg is a well-known Ponsonby Identity, and remembers well Dots Bar on Ponsonby road, the main set of “PEOPLE LIKE US.”
Where does one start describing a talented, and thoroughly experienced Showman like Gregory? With a career in theatre spanning 40 years he’s known and respected by everyone you speak to from the industry.
Greg’s theatrical career started in 1976 in amateur theatre with Rotorua Musical Theatre Co. Greg has been involved in so many shows it is not possible to list them here. He has worked under some of New Zealand’s top director’s including Bobby Alderton and Robert Young.
Greg was involved in two of the great shows at the civic in Auckland in 2015; “SINGING IN THE RAIN” and “CATS”. Recently Greg was working on GUYS AND DOLLS at Q theatre. What a great show! After the show, in the bar, Greg brought many of the talented cast to meet me. They all thought so highly of him, I was totally impressed.
The list of professional shows he has worked on goes on and on; – Anything Goes, Christmas in the Park, Symphony under the Stars, The Buddy Holly Story, Carmen and La Traviata with OPERA NZ, Assistant stage manager at the reopening of the CIVIC in 1999 – to name just a few.
Greg and I speak daily on the dozens of issues that occur when putting on a show like ‘People Like Us’. He is calm, knowledgeable and encouraging at all times. He has become a close friend.
Greg in his quiet way has brought almost the entire backstage team to our show, James, Alison, Robert, David, Gillian. A group that has many years experience between them. While actors are the face of any show, it’s the backstage team that gets the show to happen, they are the unsung heroes of any theatrical team.
Fabulosity productions will be forever grateful for Gregory’s tireless input. Thanks a million my friend.
